NZ934

This is an early Mk II Harvard (NA66) in the original 1941 wartime training yellow livery. The particular model depicted (NZ934) is from a photograph presented by the Royal Australian Air Force Museum to the RNZAF Museum in August 1989. This is one of 2 ex-RNZAF Harvards on permanent loan to the RAAF Museum and is the one which will be seen flying in the museum's Heritage Day displays.
The diagonal blue band on the aft fuselage indicates an aircraft allotted to No 2 Service Flying Training School based at Woodbourne. The blue side numbers indicate an aircraft of the advanced training squadron. I have left the VHF rod antenna shown in the RAAF photograph, although the NA66s appear to have been devoid of radio communications, relying entirely on visual signalling!.
